A re-creation of a 1930s terraced home is housed inside this museum. The exhibit focuses on the living conditions in working-class Belfast in the Shankill district. Other displays explore the 1866 Home Rule crisis and Ulster's role in World War II.

Artifacts and memorabilia, including weaponry, uniforms and insignia, are displayed at this museum. An exhibition devoted to Ulster's World War II troops is also featured.

One section of this two-part museum focuses on modes of transportation in Ireland's history and includes carriages, railroad engines, cars and planes, along with an exhibition about the Belfast-built Titanic. The second section is a life size open-air replica of a century old rural Irish village that features a schoolhouse, weave shop, mills and cottages filled with authentic everyday objects.

All aspects of Ireland's heritage are included in the Renaissance-style building located in the Botanic Gardens. Exhibits explore the country's arts, industries, and natural history and reveal more than 9,000 years of Ireland's past.
